This is a 3 part workshop which teaches participants about Sacred Drum and Sacred Songs. As part of these workshops you will learn about the sacred tool of connection, the drum. The drum is one of the 4 sacred gifts that were given to people. It connects people to the heartbeat of the great mother - the Earth. Through this instrument, when approached in a connected (sacred) manner, it can teach us about the rhythms that unifies all things. The drum also teaches us about our power as human beings to influence the rhythms. You will be constructing a personal sacred drum as part of this course.

You will also learn the sacred songs of the Woptura Lineage of the Lakota Sioux tribe. These sacred songs are spirit given instructions which have been gathered and passed on for generations. Contained within these songs are incredible amounts of information. Through learning and singing these songs with honour and respect we can tap into the knowledge, understanding and wisdom contained within. You will have the opportunity to be coached and instructed on how to sing the sacred songs of this very special and powerful lineage. Through learning the songs your understanding of life and your personal world view will be forever changed.

Over the course of 4 gatherings you will be transformed. The understanding that the songs provide will allow all participants to begin to see the world in a new and powerful way. The songs will teach you how the energy of spirit manifests and how this energy moves though us and all around us. You will come to see that there in much more to the world and life then what you have previous had experienced. You will begin to understand the responsibility they carry as human beings living on the Earth. This is the power of the sacred songs!

We will also be holding regular purification rites during the gatherings. This rite is called the Inipi in the Lakota Language, or sometimes sweat lodge. Please see more info here.

You will also have the option to participate in a Vision Quest at the conclusion on the course. This will be held during the last gathering in during the summer of 2015.

Teaching cost: £1100 (concession) - £1400 (full cost)

Additional cost: We will all be making a drum - we are sourcing the best cost and quality for drum frames and raw hide. The cost above does not include the cost of the drum making materials. Participation on Vision quest in addition requires a considerably investment of energy and bought or made resources, should you choose to do this.
