Marina Robb is founder and Managing Director of Circle of Life Rediscovery CIC, a leading outdoor learning organisation. She is Author of ‘Learning with Nature’, considered a must-have book for Forest School & Outdoor practitioners. Marina has been the recipient of funding from Natural England, Mind and The National Lottery, amongst other grant makers for her outdoor work with disadvantaged teenagers, families and young people. The flagship project ‘ The Woodland Project’ won the ITV People’s Project in 2017, supporting families and teenagers with disabilities and mental health issues. Marina is a senior practitioner for residential camps in Sussex woodlands, Forest School & training, nature-based training for adults, nature & health interventions, outdoor learning days and youth training programmes.
A qualified teacher (PGCE), Marina has studied Environmental Education (MA), Environmental Management (BSc) and Social Research (MSc) since 1990. She is a leading Forest School trainer and practitioner (UK and International) and shares her knowledge and experience through training teachers and individuals who want to work outside the classroom. She has spent over 30 years within this field developing accessible nature-centric experiences, models and tools to support a more healthy and happy society and environment.
Marina has more recently been a key speaker in T-Mind's 2016 International Forum on Early Childhood Education and Professional Development held in China (Zhengzhou City). During 2017 she has led workshops on Outdoor Learning and Forest School across China. Marina has pioneered Forest School Training in the Republic of Ireland, with CLR offering the first ever training in this region. 2018 represents an exciting year, with the new publication of a book, co-authored with Jon Cree offering an in-depth understanding and practical application of Forest School and Training. Marina will also be co-delivering ‘Earth in Mind’, a transformative learning experience supported through European Funding for adults in the Pyrenees, Spain.
Marina has spent her lifetime supporting young people and adults to find new and old ways of connecting with nature and reap the benefits of facilitated outdoor experiences. She is certified in Gestalt group facilitation, trained in wilderness skills, youth participation, managing challenging behaviour, non-directive play therapy and teenage psychology.
Marina’s approach brings together best practice from environmental education, Forest School, play work, eco-psychology, health and wellbeing practices, indigenous wisdom and many years of working with young people and adults of all ages and backgrounds, to create unique and profound learning experiences. As a parent, trainer and workshop facilitator for young people, she supports people find their passion and potential, experience a sense of belonging and discover healthy pathways to across the life stages.
